Good energy management
begins with an energy audit. Effective management of energy-consuming systems can lead to significant cost and energy savings as well as increased comfort, lower maintenance costs, and extended equipment life. What is an Energy Audit? An Energy Audit is a method of estimating the heat loss of a dwelling from, amongst other factors, its size and construction. By combining this information with data on the type and use of heating, the cost of fuel, and the climate, the cost of heating can be estimated. For the Energy Audit assessment of these dwellings, the Irish Home Energy Rating (IHER) computer programme is used. IHER is a computer programe, which is recognised as the only comprehensive system for evaluating the energy efficiency of housing stock. Further information on the technical standing of the programme and its software is available from our Energy Awareness unit. |
