2009 Development and Delivery of the first FAS Local Training Initiative Energy Efficiency modules to train unemployed construction craft workers (12 modules) Targets increased by 16% from 2008 to 1,400 homes insulated. Awarded a new 3 year European contract called TABULA 2009-2011. The programme involves the development of a web based typology of the Irish Housing Stock with 12 European countries. Our Irish co-funders are SEAI, ESB and Dublin City Council. Trained 211 participants, including staff from 7 rural projects. 2008 Insulated 1218 homes 20% increase in previuos year. Established a new company called IHER Energy Services. This company trained 249 assessors in BER both in existing houses and new houses. The company was successful in tendering for the SEI training of 80 assessors on existing housing. 2007 New Energy Action’s training facilities was launch by minister Noel Ahern TD 2007 Energy Action increased it’s production target by 25 % insulating 1004 houses. With the introduction of SEI’s DEAP, the demand for ourIHER training courses outstripped supply with 13 training courses being delivered for 186 participants. 2006 Ballyfermont Residential Energy Awareness Fuel Poverty Report, which began in 2003 launched in 2006. A three-year EU DATAMINE project commenced involving 12 EU countries in developing a common database for entering rating. This is offers much potential as an audit tool for Municipalities/Local Authorities 2005 Increased training activity with Low Income Housing Programme with more rural projects becoming operational. IHER training has become an increasingly important arm of Energy Action 2004 Training rural projects to FETC Installing Insulation and the Irish Home Energy Rating increased as a result of the EU mandatory legislation being introduced in 2006. Energy Action awarded a second SEI LIHP mentoring programme. 2003 Premises purchased from IDA 2002 A national pilot programme, launched by Sustainable Energy Ireland, addresses the problem of Fuel Poverty for the first time at Government level. Energy Action's insulation practises featured on 'About the House' programme, hosted by Duncan Stewart. The Ireland Funds film Energy Action as part of their promotional strategy in fundraising in the USA. A group of US founders visit Energy Action on a fact-finding mission. Two-day All Ireland Conference 'Common Ground' hosted by Energy Action and NEA NI held in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin, to address fuel poverty issues on an all-island basis. 2000-2001 Innovative training programme instituted by Energy Action, whereby trainees are given home computers to enable them, and their dependants, obtain essential computer skills, and Internet access training. 2000 The Report "Homes for the 21st Century -the Costs and Benefits of Comfortable Housing for Ireland" was launched. It was commissioned by Energy Action and carried out by the Energy Research Group and Environmental Institute at University College Dublin. Over 16,000 homes have benefited from Energy Action insulation services. 1998 Energy Action approved as an ECDL Training centre. 1998 Energy Action under the scheme "Task Force on Security", started to train its trainees in basic home security techniques, such as fitting of mortice locks, spy holes and door chains. 1997 (28th March) established the project in Falcarragh 1997 (25 March) - established the project in Carndonagh 1996 Energy Action developed a Training Programme to encourage rural groups develop Energy Conservation and Job Creation programmes locally, using Energy Action as a model. 1995 Energy Action was approved as the first training centre in Ireland for National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) in insulation. 1995 (24th July) - established the project in Cootehill 1995 (7th July) - established the project in Tulsk 1994 Energy Action completed the draught proofing and insulation of its 5000th house. First pilot Scheme carried out in Tory Island, Co Donegal. 1991 Mr Robert Molloy, Minister for Energy, celebrated the completion of Energy Action's 3000th home. 1991 (1st February) - established the project in Sligo 1991 (7th June) - established the project in Inishowen 1990-1991 A training course was conducted for the team of 5 installers who were on the unemployment register. 1990 (9th July) - established the project in Tory Island Donegal 1989-1990 665 homes were insulated, 5 people under the Social Employment Scheme were employed. 1988 Energy Action was established to address the problem of fuel poverty in Dublin. The homes of the elderly and poor were draught-proofed and insulated free of charge. Energy Action was Ireland's first community-based energy project. |
