Frequently Asked Questions

What is Link It?

Link it is a prototype programme developed by Energy Action for it's staff to address issues relating to IT literacy and self directed learning and career planning.

What is the difference between Link It and other computer training courses?

Link it is based on adults learning at their own pace, after a basic introduction to IT skills, the participants complete an electronic portfolio incorporating Personal Action Plans a career planning and project work using and developing their skills. The programme is supported by a range of material on the LINK IT web site . A core action of the programme was the provision of PCs to each household to challenge the emerging digital divide and enable entire household access to IT and to facilitate the ability to learn at a time suitable to participants.

How can you afford to give participants a PC?

The provision of PCs was achieved by matching the funding accumulated by staff in a group savings scheme and negotiating a group purchase of computers at a substantial discount.
