Aim: The aim of this unit is to ensure that each participant can operate the Poweroint application as detailed below

  • access slideshow software Go to Start, Programs, Microsoft Powerpoint
  • insert blank slides Ctrl + Return or Go to Insert, Slide
  • define slide type (title slide, chart slide etc.) Tip: Go to Format, Slide Layout and choose the slide type you want.
  • draw test boxes Look for the text boxes button on your Drawing Toolbar
  • format text boxes Select the text box then go to Format, Text box.
  • select and draw various AutoShapes Go to Autoshapes on the Drawing Toolbar, Click on the shape you want draw then click and drag on the slide the same way you do with text boxes.
  • format AutoShapes e.g. 3d effects Select the object or autoshape then Go to the 3D button on your Drawing Toolbar for 3D effect or go to the Shadow button to apply a Shadow effect.
  • insert clipart into slides Go to Insert, Picture, Clipart.
  • apply background design to slides Go to Format Background, or Format Apply Design.
  • apply slide transitions Go to Format, Slide Transition ( to affect the way the slideshow moves from Slide 1-2, 2-3 etc.
  • customise animation of slideshow Go to Slideshow, Custom Animation (to affect the way various autoshapes, text boxes etc move on to the slide during the show
  • view slideshow Go to View, Slideshow.
  • access various printing options of slideshow Go to File, Print….note you can print 1 slide per page, 2 slides per page, 3 slides per page, or ever 6 slides per page.
